Principal's Message

Vicki Hester, Principal

Dear Salk Families:

Welcome to Salk Elementary, Home of the Scorpions! We are excited that you are joining our Salk community. We have a dedicated and passionate staff, supportive parents and creative, talented students. We are going to do great things this year and are excited about the journey we will take together.

We are deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our children. We will accomplish this by setting high academic expectations for all children and providing supportive systems to assure they are met. My priority is to ensure that all students at Salk receive a high quality education in a caring environment. I maintain an open door policy in which I welcome everyone to call or drop by and visit at any time. If I’m not available at that moment, Vicki Eastwood, my administrative assistant, will be happy to make an appointment for you to see or talk to me.

What makes Salk Elementary a unique and special place for children to learn and grow…..Where do I begin?

  •  A staff of dedicated, caring, and highly trained professionals

  • 2015-22 National Healthy Schools Award Winner, Alliance for a Healthier Generation

  • Leader in Me School teaching the 8 habits of highly effective people

  • High quality PE program for students K-6; lunch time sports, Turkey Trot, Jingle Jog, lunch time games

  • General Music for students K-6; Band and Orchestra for students in grades 4-6
